Murals painted by Bob Congdon

When you step inside the Youth Center, the first thing you notice is the beautiful art that adorns our walls. Who created this masterpiece? It was Matt’s brother, Bob Congdon, who served as the Assistant Director for over 20 years. In the first ten months of being in our current building, Bob transformed every inch of the white walls—and by doing so, breathed even more life into the Youth Center. His art doesn’t just bring a pop of color; it sparks creativity, promotes positive lessons, and inspires kids of all ages. It’s truly magical.

Bob made a huge impact during his time at the Youth Center, especially for one child in particular. Years ago, there was a 15-year-old girl who was having a very difficult time with parental neglect and abuse. She was failing in school and seemed to be headed toward a bleak future—that is, until Bob became her legal guardian. This young woman graduated from high school with honors, received a college scholarship, and has been employed by a reputable company for many years. She is now happily married with two beautiful children of her own.

Thank you, Bob, for all that you did for the youngsters in our area, for never failing to help those in need, for having such a kind and generous heart and— as our kids still say—for making the most delicious chocolate chip cookies anyone has ever tasted. Your love and devotion will never be forgotten!
