Money Management Month at the YC!

Each month we will be choosing a theme to showcase an important lifeskill or lesson for our members. These themes will tie in to many of our posts on social media, along with a lot of our activities at the youth center!
The YC theme of the month for May is: Money Management!
Money Management and financial literacy are the focus for May at the YC because there’s a lot of things happening for our members in the next few months! A lot of our members are applying for their first summer jobs, graduating and heading into the workforce, or looking ahead at their options for paying for college. It’s crucial that our members know how to handle their money so they can reach their goals. We’re partnering with some local banks and financial experts to give our kids the best info out there— and we are so excited to watch them learn a new life skill!

Our first topic for our May month of Money Managementis CREDIT! Credit can be a bit confusing for kids because you hear about dreaded credit card debt, but on the other hand, when you apply for loans or apartments they will often ask to check your credit score. So is credit good or bad? Credit can be an incredibly powerful tool if used correctly! We are so excited that our friends over at Berkshire Bank gave us some credit basics to share with our members!
