With some of our members learning virtually over the next few weeks, and the clean slate of a new year, we thought we’d share some of our favorite suggestions for getting organized! Being organized can not only make you more productive, it can also be a great way to de-stress and lower anxiety.
The first step to getting more organized is clearing out the clutter! If it’s not something you absolutely need in that space, does it have a “home” where it can get put away? From talking with some of you, you’ve expressed that one of the hardest parts of virtual learning is avoiding distractions while in the comfort of your own space. Clearing out any unnecessary clutter will help you focus on your classes, so make sure you’re keeping your learning area neat and organized. A huge tip that will help you stay on top of this is to put things away as soon as you’re done using them!
Writing things down is another way to put some structure into your day. It’s just like going to the grocery store without a list, you’re bound to forget at least one thing! Writing down short lists and plans can help you visualize your tasks and help you plan for success. Writing out a schedule can also be beneficial. Scheduling times for certain activities or projects will keep you on task. Don't forget to schedule yourself in some breaks- rest is also important!
Focus on one thing at a time. Things can definitely seem overwhelming if you are looking at your whole list all at once. Prioritizing is key, so what items are most important? Start with your most crucial item, and you will feel so accomplished when you can cross it off your list. With virtual learning students have to be much more self motivated, so organizing and tracking your assignments is more important than ever.
As always, we are here to help! If you need some advice when it comes to setting up a good game plan for your virtual learning, we've got you!
